Karuna Trust Founder wins Lifetime Achievement Award


A dear friend of Lankatown and the founder of Karuna Trust, Mr. Mahinda Karunaratne recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Sri Lanka Association of Printers. Mr. Karunaratne, a successful printer and philanthropist was recognized for his contribution to Sri Lanka's printing industry. It was also a recognition of his social service to the poor rural folk of Sri Lanka. The award was presented by Mr. P. Chander, President of All India Federation of Master Printers.


A selfmade businessman, Karunaratne's untiring efforts in uplifting educational facilities and living standards of Sri Lanka's rural poor children is exemplary. Through his Karuna Trust, he provides scholarships for hundreds of students every year. In addition, the charity has built many school buildings, libraries, and facilities in under priviledged villages.
